How BookMeDrive Verifies Hosts and Vehicles Before You Book
What BookMeDrive actually checks before a host or vehicle goes live — licence review, RC/insurance/PUC verification, and what's still on you at pickup.

Renting a car from a stranger — or handing your own car to one — only works if both sides can trust what they're looking at. Here's exactly what BookMeDrive actually checks, and what's still on you.
Renters: licence review, not a face-scan
Every renter submits a driving licence before they can book anything, and it's reviewed manually by our team rather than approved instantly by an algorithm. That's slower than an automated check, but it's also harder to fake — a real person is looking at the document, not a script matching pixels. Once approved, your account stays verified for every future booking; you don't resubmit each time.
Owners: RC, insurance, and PUC, checked before a listing goes live
A vehicle doesn't get listed the moment an owner uploads photos. Its RC, insurance, and PUC documents are reviewed first, and only vehicles that clear all three carry the verified badge you see on a listing. If any of those lapses later — insurance expiring, for instance — that's flagged before it becomes a problem you discover at pickup.
Owner identity checks, visible on their profile
Beyond the vehicle itself, an owner's phone, ID, and email verification status is shown right on their public profile — not hidden in the backend. You can see exactly what's confirmed about who you're renting from before you ever message them, the same way they can see your licence is verified before accepting your request.
What happens at the actual handover
Verification gets you to a trustworthy starting point, not a guarantee that covers everything after. The security deposit is agreed directly between you and the owner and handled at pickup — it isn't processed by BookMeDrive — so treat that conversation as seriously as the booking itself: confirm the amount in writing beforehand, and photograph the vehicle's condition together the moment you arrive. That single habit resolves most disputes before they start.
Why there's no instant "book now" button
Every booking goes through a real conversation — you message or call the owner directly, agree on dates, price, and pickup together, and confirm from there. If an owner doesn't respond within 2 hours, the request expires automatically rather than leaving you waiting indefinitely on someone who's gone quiet.
None of this replaces your own judgment at pickup, but it means neither side is starting from zero. See Trust & Safety for the full policy, or Become a Host if you're the one with a vehicle to verify.
