This policy explains what information BookMeDrive collects when you use our platform to rent or list a vehicle, and how we use it. By using BookMeDrive, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account details you provide directly: name, phone number, and email address used to sign in and communicate with you.
  • Verification documents: your driving licence (front/back photos, licence number, and expiry), submitted for KYC review before you can book or list a vehicle.
  • Listing details, if you list a vehicle: photos, registration certificate (RC), insurance, and PUC documents, plus pricing and availability you set yourself.
  • Usage data such as your saved favourites and recently viewed listings, which we currently store in your browser (localStorage) rather than on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To verify your identity and driving licence before allowing you to contact owners or list a vehicle.
  • To review and approve vehicle listings before they go live, including checking RC, insurance, and PUC documents.
  • To connect renters and owners directly — your name, verification badge, and contact details (phone/WhatsApp) are shown to the other party once you engage with a listing or booking request.
  • To operate core account features like sign-in, your dashboard, and booking-request notifications.

3. What We Don’t Do

  • We do not process or store payment card details, UPI credentials, or bank account information — BookMeDrive does not currently handle in-app payments; deposits and rental payments are arranged directly between renter and owner.
  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • We do not track your live location or your vehicle during a trip — listing location is a static address/city you or the owner provide, not live GPS tracking.

4. Sharing Your Information

  • Your name, verification status, and contact number are shared with a renter or owner once you engage with a specific listing or booking request — this is the core of how the platform connects people.
  • We may share information if required by law, or to investigate fraud, abuse, or a violation of our Terms of Service.
  • We do not share your documents (licence, RC, insurance, PUC) publicly — they’re used only for internal verification review.

5. Data Retention

  • We retain your account and verification information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after in case of disputes or legal requirements.

6. Cookies

  • We use essential, httpOnly session cookies to keep you signed in securely. We don’t currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

7. Your Choices

  • You can review and update your profile details, including your contact number, from your account settings.
  • You can clear your saved favourites and recently viewed listings at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage for this site.
  • You can request that we delete your account and associated data by contacting support.
