Documents You Need Before Listing Your Vehicle on BookMeDrive

Listing a vehicle takes a few minutes to fill out, but getting it verified and live depends on having the right documents ready upfront. Here's the full list, and why each one's actually required.

Your own driving licence

As a host, you go through the same licence verification as renters do — submitted once, reviewed manually by our team. This isn't just a formality: it's part of what makes the whole marketplace trustworthy on both sides, and it's required before you can list, not optional for owners.

Registration Certificate (RC)

Your vehicle's RC confirms it's actually registered in your name (or that you're authorized to list it) and is one of the three documents checked before your listing goes live. Have a clear photo or scan ready — illegible uploads are the single most common cause of review delays.

Valid insurance

Third-party insurance needs to be current, not expired, at the time you list. This is checked as part of the review, and your insurance status is shown on the listing itself once approved — renters can see it's valid without having to ask.

Valid PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate

Same principle as insurance — it needs to be current, and it's checked before approval. Renew it before you submit your listing rather than after, since an expired PUC will hold up the review.

Clear photos of the vehicle itself

Not a compliance document, but functionally just as important — listings with genuine, well-lit photos of the actual vehicle (not stock images) get more serious enquiries. Renters are trusting a stranger's vehicle description; photos are what makes that credible.
